THE 2011 TOP 10 HOTTEST FEMALE VAMPIRES!

compiled by Paul Alexander -

When we first started putting this list together I thought that it was going to be the easiest writing assignment that I have ever had. How wrong I was. Just when I would think the list was done, another Vamp to consider would come to mind. What was even more difficult are those flicks with the Brides of Dracula. The women to choose from are always fantastic. To select  just one when they are all beautiful and never apart from each other is mind boggling. There is an irresistible attraction to the seductiveness of the female vampire. You know that they are evil, dangerous, and deadly, yet, there is a compelling nature to give in to their desires, even if it means death. Would YOU have the inner strength to resist any of the women on this list? I think not.

So, without further ado …

#10. Monica Bellucci (DRACULA’S BRIDE #1, BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA)

I have yet to see Monica Bellucci in a role with other women and she not be the one that my eyes just gravitate to. She is a natural beauty. The only thing that can be said, is that their was not enough of her in Coppola’s Dracula flick.

#9. Rhona Mitra (SONJA, UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS)

Rhona Mitra came to the forefront of the entertainment industry during her role as Tara Wilson in The Practice (2003) and since then she has never had to look back. Her exotic looks from her Bengali father gives this Vamp her unique beauty. A year before the release of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans it was her role in the movie Doomsday (2008) that seemed to have prepped Ms. Mitra to play the action packed part of Sonja in the prequel to Underworld. If Rhona seems strangely familiar to gamers it is because she was the original model for the video game character, Lara Croft, The Tomb Raider.

#8. Leonor Valera (NYSSA, BLADE 2)

Leonor was born in Chili and studied acting all over the world. The famous, part real, part CGI  fight scene,  in Blade II would have been better without the head gear, but the character of Nyssa is what I would call smoldering hotness. Nyssa’s demise was a nice bit of filming, although it seemed familiar. It was a shame that they killed her off. But this is the movies, and if they could bring Whistler back, then they could do the same with Nyssa, the Vampire Princess. We can only hope.

#7. Aaliyah (AKASHA, ANNE RICE’S QUEEN OF THE DAMNED)

Queen of the Damned was the songstress, Aaliyah’s second venture into acting after playing Trish O’Day in Romeo Must Die (2000). How she would have fared in other films we will never know due to her untimely death. However, she did leave behind one of the hottest and erotic, yet horrifying female Vampire carnage dance scenes to date. The film was released six-months after her tragic plane crash.

#6. Evan Rachel Wood (VAMPIRE QUEEN SOPHIE-ANN, TRUE BLOOD)

Wood was tapped to play the part of Vampire Queen Sophie-Ann in HBO’s hit series True Blood, based on The Southern Vampire Mystery series by novelist Charlaine Harris. The theory behind the character’s motivation was that if one lived for what seemed like centuries, it would drive one to madness. And Vampire Queen, Sophie-Anne does not disappoint. Wood’s riveting performance dominated every scene that she was in. So much so that it has been said that Wood’s portrayal of the character of Sophie in season 2 overshadowed Paquin’s Stackhouse.

#5. Nina Dabrev (KATHERINE PIERCE, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES)

Nina plays a duel role in the CW television program based on the successful novel series by author L.J. Smith.  The first is Elena Gilbert. Elena, a young woman who is the love torn focus between two vampire brothers. The other, Katherine, a ruthless vamp that the same two brothers knew and loved back in the 19th century. It seems that history does tend to repeat itself. For all the female fans wondering how to get those luscious red lips Katherine wore to the Masquerade Ball in Season 2, Episode 7, Nina gives a tutorial here.

#4. Nikki Reed (ROSALIE LILLIAN HALE, TWILIGHT)

In 1933 Rosalie was turned by Carlisle Cullen after being raped and beaten near death by a gang of men, one who was her fiancee. Some years later she saved Emmett Cullen and soon they fell in love and married. That is why this Vamp is protective of the Cullen Clan. There since the beginning, Rosalie protects her family with a fierceness which led her to wanting to kill the main character of Bella, but was talked out of doing so. With her flawless looks and svelte figure Rosalie fosters jealousy for one reason. She cannot have a normal human life.

#3. Julie Benz (DARLA, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, ANGEL)
Long before Desperate Housewives, No Ordinary Family, and Dexter (nasty ending to her character Rita btw), Julie Benze came to the public’s attention in the role of Darla. First appearing in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series then reprising her role as Darla in the Buffy spin-off, Angel. With each episode the character of Darla grew from just a flashback for Angel in the Buffy series, to a major player once David Boreanaz’ Angel was spun off into his own series.

#2. Salma Hayek (SANTANICO PANDEMONIUM, FROM DUSK TILL DAWN)

Already considered a major actress, it was a surprise to hear that Salma Hayek took a role in Quintin Tarantino’s From Dusk Till Dawn. Although it was one of the briefest of roles, Salma exuded that which would be considered the classic Vamp. Stunning, mesmerizing, and nothing but HOTTNESS. It was the python snake table dance that left movie audiences breathless. Me included. Chalk another one up for Tarantino. I still wonder how he came up with that character name. There is a Santana version of basically the same scene.

#1. Kate Beckinsale (SELENE, UNDERWORLD)

Underworld: Awakening, the next installment of  the Underworld franchise is due to drop in 2012. Kate Beckensale reprises her role as Selene, and we have deemed her the hottest vamp of them all. Yes, we all know the movies are loaded with contacts and computers, but Beckinsale is still able to sell the character during those moments when it counts. Fans constantly gush about the distinct look and feel of the films, but for us, it is Beckinsale’s Selene that makes it all worth watching. She owns this role, and we here at Vamperotica just LOVE women in latex.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

1. Milla Jovovic (VIOLET, ULTRAVIOLET)

Okay, so Violet is not a “true” Vampire in the actual sense of the word. She suffers from a vampric virus and has all the traditional atributes. Violet exudes a HOTTNESS that only Jovovich can emit.

2.  Jeri Ryan (VALARIE SHARPE, DRACULA 2000)

One of Dracula’s three brides. Come on, how could we leave Seven-of-Fine off this list. Now co-starring on ABC’s Body of Proof, Ms. Ryan’s “hotness” is still very much intact!

3. Lucy Liu (SADIE BLAKE, RISE: BLOOD HUNTER)

Rise: Blood Hunter is full of sex, blood, and rock-and-roll co-starring  Michael Chiklis (The Shield’s Vic Mackey). It’s yet another movie genre to add to Liu’s already packed resume. And, no, it is not the Bloodhunter from our very own Vamperotica & Luxura comics.

4. Deborah Ann Woll (JESSICA HAMBY, TRUE BLOOD)

Stuck as a teenager for all eternity, she has left many a body along the roadside of her journey into the night. Once Deborah “grows” into her hottness, it should not be long before she moves up the list.

5. Josie Maran (MARISHKA, VAN HELSING)

As said, it is always difficult to select a single hottie from those that portray Dracula’s Brides, but when Josie Maran’s Marishka graced the big screen — BAM! What a knockout. Sad to say she will not be reprising her role anytime soon.

Well that does it for our 2011 list of Hottest Female Vampires! If any of you Vamps have a remark about your placement, or non-placement on this list, drop us a line. VAMPEROTICA #9 ORIGINAL COVER ART SELLS FOR $180.50

Vamperotica #9 Cover Art by Steve Scott & Eman Torre

Finding the covers to any of the original Vamperotica comic series is rare indeed. This is the cover to Vamperotica #9 by D.C. comic artist STEVE SCOTT & veteran Vamperotica inker, Eman Torre. The original art was recently sold on Ebay for $180.50. Steve did quite a lot of work for Vamperotica early in his career before he went off to work for Marvel & D.C. This cover is one of his best. It features the main characters introduced in the Vamperotica comic series; Luxura, Vanthor and Bloodhunter.  The original art is ink & brush work on 11 x 17 bristol.

You no doubt have seen the work of Smallville artist, Steve Scott if you are a fan of the hit TV show. But others have known about his work for quite some time! Steve first made his mark on the comics industry via his sequential art at Malibu Comics, he later gained wider attention after he became the regular artist on the LEGENDS of LUXURA mini-series. His detailed illustrations of Luxura gained him the attention of several publishers and he later went on to create dazzling art for London Night’s Razor as well as New Warriors, Hourman, and JLA for Marvel and DC Comics.

Much like the superheroes he brings to life–Steve led a duel life for more than sixteen years: firefighter by day and artist by night! It took one horrible event to bring those two identities together. On September 11, 2001, he watched, with the rest of the nation as the Twin Towers fell. Soon afterwards, DC Comics published The Worlds Finest Comic Book: Writers & Artists Tell Stories to Remember. Steve was selected among the few to contribute to this historical collection, which was later exhibited, and is now archived, at the Library of Congress.
